Sunshine Coast, BC. Raccoons are omnivorous and will feed on insects, worms, fish, amphibians, fruit, nuts and seeds. They are regular visitors to the cherry trees in our garden!

Sunshine Coast, BC. This coyote was heading back to her/his den early one morning. To avoid humans many Coyotes are most active at dawn and dusk. This also gives them the best chance of finding rodents, their preferred prey.

Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. These zebra are standing alert as night falls over the savannah. Just visible are faint cloud ripples starting to form in the sky. These ripples sometimes happen when warm winds flow out from a distant thunderstorm.
Getting to Know You

Ready for the Rut
Sunshine Coast, BC. From the size of his antlers I would say this Black Tailed Deer male is more than ready to compete for females in the Fall rut

Schmok Lake, MB. This Barren-ground caribou bull pauses on a ridge during his fall migration south to escape the brutally cold northern winters

Nine-lined Ground Squirrrel
Sunshine Coast, BC, Canada. When their ponds freeze in the winter, beavers swim under the ice to reach their cache of tree branches felled in the summer.
